General Event Information
Safety is one of the highest priorities at the US Open, and the USTA will continue to take every reasonable step to ensure the safety of everyone entering the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center gates. The USTA will be implementing several important security measures in conjunction with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies:
The list of prohibited items that MAY NOT be brought onto the premises can be found on the What Can You Bring | Event Guide on 2015 US Open Official Site.
Crime is the primary security concern. The United States has experienced a downward trend in crime rates in recent years. The threat of terrorism remains a concern in the United States. The level of drug cartel violence in Mexican cities along the U.S.-Mexico border has thus far not significantly affected security conditions in U.S. cities. Kidnapping for ransom, while relatively rare in the United States, presents an increasing concern in the U.S., especially as it relates to ongoing kidnapping concerns in Mexico, including the increasing threat in border cities located on either side of the U.S.-Mexico border. Reports of an increase in drug cartel-related kidnappings in Arizona, however, do not indicate a threat to most travelers. Protests and strikes have the potential to cause transportation disruptions. Natural disasters, including earthquakes and hurricanes, are significant concerns in certain areas.
Historic NYC provides a wide variety of quality hotels, many offering complementary shuttle service to the event. Event rates will apply. The US Open website lists travel packages that include accommodations. The USTA recommends staying at a hotel in Queens near the stadium, or at a hotel in Manhattan near the 7 train, which will take visitors directly to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center/Willets Point stop.
The impact on hotel rates appear high. The primary event location will see rate increases and inventory compression. It is important to note the cancellation policies at each hotel to avoid penalties. For assistance, contact Colt Trip Support directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +1 281 280 2200.
