World Fuel | Colt has what you need to make a quick trip to the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix atMarina Bay Street Circuit, September 18 – 20.
The 2015 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix will be held October 9 – 11 at the Sochi Autodrom – a street circuit built around Olympic Park within the city of Sochi which is situated in, Krasnodar the third largest region in Russia. Events will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Due to a large number of flights during the International Investment Forum Sochi 2015, Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix and International Contest « New Wave», there is a NOTAM at Sochi airport. Read more information in the Airport Permissions section below.
The Sochi circuit, located in the Black Sea resort of the same name, is the first purpose-built Formula One facility in Russia and hosted the country's inaugural Grand Prix in October 2014, in the same year that the city also staged the Winter Olympics.
Sochi's Formula One relationship formally began in October 2010, when an agreement to host a Grand Prix was signed between race promoters OJSC Center Omega and the Formula One group of companies, with the support of the Russian government and in the presence of Vladimir Putin.
Construction of the 5.853-kilometre, 55,000-capacity circuit came under the design supervision of renowned architect Hermann Tilke. The track is integrated into the Olympic Park infrastructure, with facilities located in close vicinity to the Olympic Park railway station and to the roads which connect the Olympic venues with Sochi International Airport.
The track width varies from 13 metres at its narrowest point to 15 metres at the start-finish line. The circuit, which runs in a clockwise direction, consists of 12 right- and six left-hand corners, and combines both high-speed and technical sections. On their first visit to the track, Formula One cars reached 332 km/h on the 650-metre straight between the first and second turns, with Lewis Hamilton averaging 213 km/h as he claimed pole for Mercedes.
Under normal conditions, permission to land is typically granted in three business days. However, it is advised that operators request permission to land two to three weeks in advance due to the expected increase in traffic and parking restrictions. We anticipate last minute permission requests to be very difficult to secure, including changes. Operators should submit landing applications early and not deviate from planned landings as any revisions will be time-consuming and could be denied. More information on data required to support a request is available in the PDFs below.
Per NOTAM A3093/15, there are parking limitations at Sochi Airport (URSS). Parking is not more than one hour for charter flights of Class 3 aircraft and not more than one and a half hours for charter flights of Class 2 aircraft from 29 September until 12 October 2015. The recommendation is to use Krasnodar (URKK) and Anapa (URKA) as an alternate airport for parking.
It is asked that you advise passenger status and purpose of flight from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12 in your request. It is NOT recommended to change your SLOT after receiving slot confirmation, and request changes only in case of emergency as SLOT reconfirmation can be time-consuming and could be the reason of flight cancellation.
Plan the arrival to URSS from an airport where aircraft has parking (URKK and URKA) to pick up passengers with parking no longer than 1 hour due to NOTAM. In a case where an aircraft exceeds its parking time limitation, the Sochi Airport will inform Russian FAA of the violation of the NOTAM.
Crews can secure parking at Sochi Airport are expected to be at the airport no less than two hours prior to departure of your flight.

Cabotage regulations are strictly enforced in Russia. It is important that the same passengers who arrive on an aircraft depart on that same aircraft. Landing applications must show passengers arriving and departing for each stop in Russia. At the discretion of the Russian Civil Aviation Authority, exceptions to the cabotage rules may be obtained during the permit application process. After the landing permission has been granted, requests to change schedules and manifests are not appreciated by the Russian CAA.
Russia typically requires a Russian navigator to be on board the aircraft for operations to domestic airports. At this time, it is not clear whether or not this will be required at the primary and alternate airports supporting the Grand Prix. Typically, a navigator is requested during the landing application process. We will continue to monitor and update this site when this information is available.
Visas upon arrival at Sochi Airport (URSS) are not possible.
To travel to Russia, almost all of foreign citizens need a visa.
Russian entry visa is issued by the Embassy or a Consulate of the Russian Federation in the country of your residency based on the Visa Support. The Visa Support includes: a Foreign Traveler Entry Permit & a Tourist Voucher registered with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Travelers seeking accommodations near Sochi should book well in advance of this highly anticipated event. The city of Sochi offers plenty of hotel options, and some hotels are within walking distance to the track. The nearby city of Alder has low availability. Booking requirements may include a four-night stay (Thursday – Sunday). A mandatory registration fee for foreign citizens may be charged at the Park Inn by Radisson Sochi City Centre. The impact on hotel rates appear moderate – Primary event location will see rate increases and availability compression.

Though no country specific forms may be required, keep these best practice recommendations in mind:
It is important that both Owners and Operators are aware that it is their responsibility to ensure that adequate coverage exists.
